Safe Surrounds
Sunshine Coast Pool Tiling
A pool’s no good if the surface around it’s a hazard. Pool tiling has to strike a balance—safe underfoot, easy to clean and good-looking year-round.
Sunny Tiling Co, based on Mount Coolum and servicing the Sunshine Coast from Noosa to Caloundra, lays pool tiling designed for real conditions. Think slip-resistant textures, water-smart placement and finishes that stay cool, even in full sun.
We tile pool surrounds, coping, steps and paved zones using materials that don’t just look good in photos—but actually hold up to chlorine, salt, bare feet and backyard parties. And because every backyard is different, we consider drainage, slope and tile alignment to avoid puddles or lifting tiles down the track.

FAQ
Everything You Need To Know
What tiles are best for around a pool?
Tiles with a slip rating of P4 or P5 are the safest choice for pool areas. Porcelain tiles are popular due to their density, low porosity and ability to handle wet conditions. Natural stones like travertine or granite also work well, offering grip and a high-end look, though they often need sealing.
Avoid glossy tiles—they get dangerously slick when wet. Also consider colour—lighter tiles stay cooler underfoot.
Do pool tiles need sealing?
It depends on the material. Porcelain and most ceramic tiles don’t need sealing, but natural stones like slate, limestone or travertine do. Sealing helps protect them from moisture, chlorine, and salt exposure.
It also makes them easier to clean and slows down fading from UV. Sealing should be done after installation and reapplied every one to three years depending on use and weather.
How do I clean and maintain pool tiles?
Sweep regularly to remove grit and leaves. Hose off dirt, especially after storms. Use a mild detergent for stubborn marks—avoid anything acidic if you’ve got natural stone. Scrub algae build-up with a stiff brush and check grout for wear over time.
Sealed tiles need resealing periodically. A high-pressure clean once or twice a year keeps things looking fresh without damaging the surface.
